"Money" はストーンズも（Flying Lizards も！）カバーしてるけど、ここではビートルズに入れときます。RC サクセションに「この短い人生で一番大事なもの、それは俺の自由、自由、自由」っていう曲があったけど、これってもしかして "Money" の出だし部分の歌詞 "The best things in life are free" を誤訳したものではないかと思う。この場合の "free" は「自由」ではなく「無料（タダ）」という意味ですので、お間違えなきよう。じゃあ "Free Money"（Patti Smith）ってどういう意味よ？、との質問には「返す必要のない、天から降ってきた泡銭」とでも答えておきましょう。Money 関連で言えば、クリムゾン（"Easy money"）、ピンクフロイド（"Money"）、ボウイ（"Red Money"）、ダイアストレイツ（"Money for nothig"）、Matumbi（"All over this world (money)"）、ロキシー（"Three and Nine"）、The Last Poets（"E Pluribus Unum"=The Pop groupのセカンドアルバムに収録の"One out of many"の元ネタ） の歌詞も参照すべし。
2014/06/11改訂："the birds and the bees"が「性教育」を指すイディオムであることをこの記事で初めて知ったため、それに合わせて訳を改訂。なぜ「鳥と蜂」で「性教育」になるのかというと、Wikipediaによれば、欧米での幼児や児童向けの伝統的な性教育では、ミツバチを経由した植物の受粉により性交〜受精を、野鳥の産卵により妊娠〜出産をそれぞれ婉曲的に表現することが行われていたからだ、とのこと。
